back home and tiiiiired of traveling!

dallin and i are taking a break from traveling for now... mostly due to finances ;) it's good to be home!

4x4 up the oregon hills...

as a kid dallin grew up 4x4ing in the hills of his back yard... he took me on a little trip to view his home town... beautiful desert! burns and hines oregon, two neighboring small towns... dallin's childhood...

if you're a thomas grandkid... or under 60 lbs for that matter, then you can fly! thanks to uncle dallin and uncle darin, this flight has been made possible... and the beauty of it all, the parents don't even bat an eye. these boys are something else- but the kids LOVED it!

REDHOT HEART HOTTUB!!!

for those of you that may have thought that burns oregon doesn't come with certain honeymooning amenitites, you're perfectly wrong...thanks to cherilyn's "keep the tradition alive" attitude, she treated dallin and me to a honeymoon night after our open house... as the story goes, cherilyn got this after her open house when she and rick got married and decided to "share" the joy with her siblings.

complete with floral decor and all. HAPPY HONEYMOON Burns style!! (*note when cherilyn and rick were there, it wasn't quite so nice... it was a full heart then, no shower, and more mirrors i think... thank goodness they gave it a make over, or my OCD side would not have stood a night there!)

road trip...

portland, oregon is about a 5 and a half hour car drive to dallin's home town. so, we joined julie doman and her three girls for a little road trip...

here's pic of the 3 sister mountains... and this is the part of oregon that dallin knows... no forests here, it's open desert!

the best man...

dallin's childhood buddy Matt Benton, asked dallin, even before we were engaged, to be his best man for his wedding. so we flew out to portland, oregon for the event! they had the ceremony under the bridge named Cathedral Bridge-- for the arch supports, and had a beautiful weeping willow backdrop behind the minister...

on to washington state...

dallin and i had our last and final wedding reception open house in his home town burns oregon... what do you know, my grandma oopedoop and papa speed's home is only 20 minutes from the oregon airport!

dallin was to be the best man in one of his childhood friend's wedding's in portland oregon (that's why we flew there) so this was perfect to see my grandparents and to introduce them to my new husband!
and go figure... they thought we were a perfect match ;) she said after seeing us together, she could tell we were meant for each other! our love comes shining through... ah, young lovers...

take me out to the ball game!

my dad has ALWAYS been an avid ball player... baseball happens to be his favorite. daughter after daughter after daughter... cheerleader after cheerleader after cheerleader... finally a ball player in the family! i played softball all growing up... and let's just say, that puts the sparkle in my dad's eye! of all things... since i'm the coach of a ESAB (the team i started in '07) i finally got to play on a team WITH my dad! we won the game of course... he pitched and i played 3rd... play ball!

the big day...

on june 24th, 2008 we were sealed for time and all eternity in the los angeles temple. it was a beautiful day filled with lots of family and friends who traveled from all around the world like japan, ohio and other places. we were so grateful so many of you could share our special day with us. it has been a long time coming for both of us to find each other but we did and the journey was worth the wait...

quiet on the set!

as with any historical home, i suppose, some movie persons are bound to find glenridge hall and use it for it's "flash to the past set" or shall we say authenticity! can't remember the name of the drama-mentory filmed, that'd be helpful if i did, but they filmed some documentary about a jewish guy accused of murder ages ago. they used GHall to re-inact it all... i was more fascinated by the gorgeous 1916 model-T they had on set... called the last of the bronze series... not to mention the old man who owned it was a southern charmer!

paintballing... fun for sure... but apparently i have this hidden competative gene. rollin in the dirt no problem. wearing a mask you can't breath in but protects your precious face from the paint balls... no problem...


the problem is... your guy friend threatens you with spelling his name on your chest. honestly what do you do:

a.) take it like a man

b.) scream and run

c.) cower in submission and commit suicide

d.) take him out

guess this is one time i'm a (d.) kind of girl.

international triathalon two thousand eight...

thomas boys decided to unite and triathalon together. the boys did the whole race in speedos. everyone called them the speedo brothers.

secret garden...

we took the family to the secret garden where dallin proposed to me... february 15th 2008. just him and me, in our own woods at Glenridge Hall, by our own stream, old stone table and benches, dancing in the moonlight... simple and nice. i wouldn't have had it any other way... and he knew that.

site seeing in the A-T-shizzle...

took the time to do some of the touristy things in atlanta... dallin and i haven't taken advantage of that enough, so with family here it was the perfect excuse to go... coca cola... born in atlanta, you absolutely HAVE to vist coke. though i'm more a dr. pepper kind of girl-- if i drank soda that is.
catch the news lately... CNN folks... that's right. it's only here on CNN you catch the most of WORLD news... really can't stand the news to be honest. so depressing. but you gotta check it off your list. CHECK.

attempted to run through the Centennial Olympic Park fountain. made it through no problem, but some little girl decided to block one of the holes and it shot right where it looks like i wet my pants. lovely.

mister rei dallin thomas graduates from emory university with his masters in public health! what a man. what a man... what a mighty good man!

his parents came, my parents and my sister came, buddy pete, pres schmid... it was a party. check the proud fiance...

rexberg idaho... receiving my endowments...

the day has arrived... i received my endowments in the newest rexberg idaho temple... we had louis clan attend, the thomases, and some friends. it's official, i'm now a member of the "club"...

catch dallin's shoes... in all the hussle and bussle trying to keep me relaxed on such a stressful day, he forgot his suit shoes in his parents van... whoops! but nice touch anyway dallin..
